Croissants: A New Year Tradition

I’m not sure exactly when it started, but it may have been my first foray into the world of the Great British Bake Off – the croissant. I made a New Year’s resolution to try new and scary recipes, and I started with puff pastry. I have no idea why this was the first, but it was, and ever since, I’ve managed to make croissants at the start of the year.

All baked up and smelling amazing

I am very lucky to have a husband who can help do the final rolling out of the dough, when my hands and arms get too sore and tired to successfully get the strip of dough to the right length. It may take a total of three days to make (dough on day one, lamination on day two, cutting/baking on day three), but oh man are homemade croissants worth it! The rich, buttery, flaky deliciousness is insanely tasty, and even better…freezable! All that goodness ready at some future date? Yay!!

Is there anything quite as special as homemade croissants and coffee for breakfast?

I will definitely keep this New Years tradition in the future, and make croissants any time I can. These are delicious and while time-intensive, always worth it.
